The Wim Hof method was developed by athlete and adventurer Wim Hof. Wim is also known as “The iceman”. He is known for setting several Guinness book world records in his life including running a half marathon above the Arctic Circle barefoot and climbing Mount Everest barefoot in nothing more than shorts to the deadzone (7400 m).

Wim was convinced that he could influence his autonomous immune system and that anyone would be able to do so mid his techniques. In 2013, he got the chance to get tested at the Radbout UMC hospital in Nijmegen. The doctors and specialists were stunned, Wim was able to suppress a fierce immune reaction after the administration of an endotoxin intravenous. Wim stated that he was no exception and pushed for a second study to take place in 2014, comparing two groups, one trained and one untrained, and the results were impressive. The trained group showed the same results as Wim and suppressed a strong immune response after the administration of an endotoxin. The untrained group experienced symptoms after administration of the endotoxin such as, chills, muscle stiffening, elevation, fever and sweating. The difference between the 2 groups was significant, marking the start of the Wim Hof Method.

Wim Hof Method Fundamentals Workshop

When attending a WHM Fundamentals Workshop you will learn the 3 cornerstones of the Wim Hof Method, which consist of breathwork, cold exposure and the power of the mind.

By exploring and testing the limits of our comfort zone in a controlled setting we gain more energy, strength, flexibility and therefore a healthier lifestyle.

A WHM Fundamentals Workshop lasts 4 to 5 hours in which you experience the physical and mental aspect of the method, this consists of breathwork, an ice bath and mobility training. In addition, you get the theory and rationale.

Wim Hof Method Breathing class

In a WHM Breathing class, we bring attention to our breath. Breathing is regulated by the autonomic nervous system, which means that breathing is an unconscious process as long as we don’t pay attention to it. Which is seriously convenient because we need oxygen all the time!

The amount of oxygen we inhale affects the amount of energy released into our cells. Oxygen is an essential catalyst for the energy we have throughout the day. The way we breathe strongly influences the biochemical, neurological and physiological processes that take place in our bodies.

By paying attention to our breathing technique, we can bring and keep our physique in optimal conditions and take back control.

This class lasts 1 to 2 hours, different breathing techniques are applied such as target breathing, box breathing, and WHM basic breathing. In addition, the theory behind our breathing mechanism and the practice is explained so that you understand what the exercises are all about.

Wim Hof Method Weekend

Dive deeper into the Wim hof Method on a WHM Weekender, with a passionate group of Wim hof practitioners at a beautiful location in nature, this event will deepen your knowledge of your own body and mind.

There are always two trainers present so that different aspects and specialties of bodywork can be facilitated. In addition to method, think for example of different Yoga disciplines (Hatha, Vinyase, Asthanga), Chi-Gong and Thai Chi or Calisthenics, Cross-Fit and Cardio training.

We offer 2 full days program in which we cover the 3 cornerstones of the Wim Hof Method and deepen your knowledge and hands on skills in breath work, cold practice and mind power.

We explore our limits together in a safe environment, so that we can create a broader comfort zone and with that develop techniques to get closer to our energy, focus and flexibility.

The WHM weekends always provide wonderful new friendships, brotherhood and new insights.
